crozier of William of Wykeham c1367

Angel playing a tabor (and possibly also a pipe) on the crozier at New College, Oxford. It is in a section level with the angel's outstretched wing. William of Wykham was born in 1324 and left his Bishops regalia to New College.

The crozier is one of the insignia of rank of the Bishop and is usually a long staff with the end curved in a heavy volute carved with foliage.
